About

Richard Lawrence Bennett is a writer from Arundel, England. He has written three collections of short stories, for which he is seeking representation from a literary agent. His individual short stories have so far been published in Ambit Magazine, Dawntreader Magazine, Every Day Fiction and the Best British Short Stories Anthology for 2020.

Richard was born in Prague, Czech Republic, to British parents and educated at boarding school in England. He took a degree in Classics at Bristol University before going to India in search of the mystical and magical. He has worked as a civil servant in London and as an English teacher in Japan. He took up writing after making a bet with a friend that they could each write a story called ‘The Last Tin,’ which features in his first collection. His intention is to write twelve collections of short stories.

He is interested in literature, mysticism and psychogeography (the effect of the urban environment upon the individual). He enjoys pubs and long city walks, has a first dan in the martial art Kendo and is a member of CAMRA, the Philosophical Society of England and the Victorian Society.
